The Effect

If you want an adventure into a land of wonder... I would recommend this book. Treat yourself. Harvey Gilman

Many of us have experience that we simply can't explain - coincidence, insights, nudgings, near-death-experience and sometimes, just knowing. The Effect describes not just Linda's own encounters with déjà-vu and prescient dreams, but explanations offered by today's leading scientists. The course offers opportunities to share your own examples and interpretations of the seemingly-inexplicable. Prepare to be amazed.

Linda is the author of sixteen books and plays including The Alternative Assembly Book and Your Friend, Rebecca. Her Royal Literary Fund fellowship at Sheffield University inspired The Effect - where science meets spirituality, widely-acclaimed as an expertly-researched, raucous page-turner which throws tradition to the wind. A book to make you cry and laugh out loud.

Linda's courses are guaranteed to be inspirational and thought-provoking. Prepare to be amazed.
Or even amaze yourself.

Labyrinth: exploring the spiritual path in words and pictures

Linda Hoy and Annie Lord

The labyrinth is our life journey - all-too-often lost, taking many a wrong turn, repeating the same mistakes and every now and then, finding ourselves back at the beginning.

But every labyrinth contains the pathway to its heart: the still, small centre of our being.

In this workshop we explore our spiritual journeys, our turning points and crossroads. We reflect on what we have learned, celebrate who we have become and reflect on where to go next. We trace our individual pathways with words - both written and spoken - and threads to depict our past and future journeys.

Nurturing the Soul with Linda Hoy

This course offers a work-out for the soul - a chance for it to run off-the-lead in the open air, reflecting on Thoreau's insistence that our souls can thrive on silence, simplicity and harmony with Nature.

We have work-outs for our bodies and exercise our minds, but all too often, our spiritual lives become neglected beneath the pressures of everyday life.

So… time to undo the damage, pamper and spruce up our souls and offer them some tender loving care.

Hopefully, we'll resolve to incorporate more of the spiritual into our daily lives in future.

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify ... the teachings of Henry David Thoreau and what they offer us today.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away Henry David Thoreau

Having built his cabin in the Walden Woods, Thoreau explored how spiritual life can be heightened by living simply and cutting back to basics.

His teachings on non-violent protest inspired:

  • Mahatma Ghandi
  • Martin Luther King Junior
  • Nelson Mandela
and whole generations of anti-government and environmental protesters.

What can Thoreau's teachings offer us today?
